Ashley Barlow is a a registered psychologist specializing in substance abuse & treatment, sexual problems and violence, aggression & abusive behaviours. Visit our office in South Edmonton.
Specialty problems can require creative and multi-faceted treatment approaches. Sexual behavior problems, aggression, and substance use do not originate from a single source and there is no “one size fits all” approach to treatment.
Informed by evidence-based practice, I work with my clients and their families if necessary to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that may include aspects of cognitive behavioural therapy, trauma therapy, motivational interviewing, family therapy, behaviour modification, and psychoeducation to address their unique needs and treatment goals.

What does one put here?
My name is Ashley and I’m a psychologist?
That I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2012 from the University of Saskatchewan seems a little stuffy, but necessary.
My philosophy on life and change? I’m still working that out. I guess what I probably need to say is that I do this work because I love to celebrate the successes, absurdities, and challenges of my clients.
I recognize that seeking out therapy is a challenging decision for many and I have the opportunity to work with people through what are some of the most difficult times in their lives. I like to approach my clients with warmth, humor, and directness and I work hard to make my office a safe place for people to explore the darkness and the light that exists within them, and indeed all of us.
I am a trauma-informed, client centered therapist who recognizes the intersectionality of gender, race, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status in the lives of my clients.
A little about me:
I love to travel.
I have been to 5 continents and I love to see the world and meet the amazing people living all over our beautiful planet.
I love my dog, I feel lukewarm about my cats, and I can’t imagine a better afternoon than reading a book in the sunshine on my deck.
I look forward to meeting you!
