Terms of use
Last updated: October 22, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
Welcome to LiveBusiness.ca (the “Site”), a directory of Canadian businesses. By visiting the Site, creating an account, or submitting or claiming a listing, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean LiveBusiness.ca.
2. What the Site does
LiveBusiness.ca lets visitors find Canadian businesses and lets business owners publish and manage a public listing. We are a directory only. We do not sell, recommend, endorse or guarantee any listed business, and we are not a party to any dealing between a visitor and a business.
3. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when you register and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at the address below if you think your account has been used without permission. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your province or territory to create an account.
4. Listings and your content
- You may submit or claim a listing only for a business you own or are authorized to represent.
- Information in a listing (business name, address, phone, email, website, description, hours, images, categories) is published publicly and may be indexed by search engines. Please publish only business information.
- Do not include personal information about yourself or anyone else (for example a home address, a personal phone number or email, or details about employees or customers) unless you want it shown publicly and have the right to share it.
- You confirm that your content is accurate, not misleading, lawful, and does not infringe anyone’s rights.
- You keep ownership of your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, format and promote it on the Site and in connection with the Site, for as long as the listing is published.
- We review new listings and changes before they appear. We may edit formatting, remove links, correct categories or locations, or decline or remove any listing at our discretion, for example if it is inaccurate, misleading, unlawful or abusive.
5. Listings we create
Some listings have been created by us from publicly available business information or from earlier versions of the directory. If one of them is yours, you may claim it to correct or update it, or ask us to remove it (see section 11).
6. Acceptable use
You must not: post unlawful, fraudulent, hateful, misleading or spam content; list or promote online gambling, casinos or betting, sexually explicit or adult services, illegal drugs or cannabis sold without a Canadian licence, or weapons or counterfeit goods; impersonate a person or business; scrape, copy or resell the directory in bulk without our written permission; send unsolicited commercial messages through the Site or to addresses found on it; interfere with the Site’s security or operation; or try to access accounts or data that are not yours.
7. Plans, prices and payment
- The Site offers a free Basic listing and paid plans (Standard, Featured, Premium). Current prices, terms and features are shown on the Pricing page and at checkout. Prices are shown in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise and applicable taxes are added at checkout.
- Payments are processed by PayPal. We do not receive or store your card number.
- A paid plan runs for the term you purchased. When it ends, the listing returns to the Basic plan unless you renew.
- If you upgrade to a higher plan during a term, the unused value of your current plan is credited toward the new plan as shown at checkout.
- Fees are charged in advance. Except where the law requires otherwise, fees are non-refundable once a plan has been activated. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us and we will review it promptly.
- We may change prices and plan features for future purchases and renewals by updating the Pricing page.
8. Our content and intellectual property
The Site’s design, text, logo, software and compilation of the directory belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. You may view the Site and share links to it. You may not copy or reuse it beyond what these terms or the law allow.
9. Third-party services and links
The Site uses third-party services such as Google (sign-in, maps and address suggestions) and PayPal (payments), and listings may link to third-party websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them.
10. Disclaimers and limits of liability
The Site and all listings are provided “as is” and “as available”. Listing information is supplied by businesses or from public sources and we do not verify it. We do not promise the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free or that any listing will produce enquiries or sales. Please do your own checks before dealing with any business.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site or any listing. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or CAD $100 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
11. Corrections, complaints and removal requests
If a listing is wrong, infringes your rights, shows your personal information, or you want a listing removed, write to privacy@livebusiness.ca with the listing address and what you would like changed. We will review requests promptly and respond, normally within 30 days.
12. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or end access, or remove content, if you break these terms or if we need to protect the Site or other people. Sections that by their nature should continue (including content licence for published history, disclaimers, limits of liability and governing law) survive termination.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is significant, we will give notice on the Site or by email. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Courts in Ontario have jurisdiction over disputes, except where consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
