Review guidelines
Last updated: November 6, 2026
Reviews on LiveBusiness.ca help people choose a local business with confidence. To keep them useful and fair, every review must follow these guidelines.
What makes a good review
- Describe your own, first-hand experience with the business: what you bought or used, when, and how it went.
- Be specific. Details about service, price, timing and communication help others most.
- Be honest and fair, whether your experience was good or bad.
- Keep it relevant to the business. Reviews are not the place for unrelated complaints or general opinions.
What is not allowed
- Reviewing your own business, a business you work for or are related to, or a competitor.
- Reviews that were paid for, or written in exchange for a discount, gift or any other benefit.
- Several reviews of the same business by the same person.
- Links, advertising, phone numbers or email addresses.
- Personal information about anyone, including staff names combined with private details.
- Offensive, discriminatory, threatening or sexually explicit content.
- False statements, or content that is unlawful or infringes someone else’s rights.
For business owners
- You may invite any of your customers to leave a review, using your review link or QR code from your account.
- Ask all customers, not only the ones you expect to be happy.
- Do not offer anything in return for a review, and do not pressure anyone or write reviews on a customer’s behalf.
- On Standard, Featured and Premium plans you can post one public reply to each review. Replies must follow the same rules.
How we check reviews
- The author must confirm their email address before the review is considered.
- Every review is checked by our team before it is published, usually within one business day.
- We automatically flag patterns that suggest fake reviews, such as many reviews from the same network in a short time.
- We do not edit reviews. A review is either published as written or not published.
- We do not remove a review just because it is negative, and business owners cannot pay to have a review removed or hidden.
Reporting a review
If you believe a review breaks these guidelines, or you are the author and want your review removed, contact us through the Contact page and include the link to the listing. We review every report and may remove a review that breaks the rules.
